NIOSH-Approved N95 Respirator Masks for the Workplace
Workplaces that deal with dust, renovation debris, or airborne particles keep N95 respirators on hand as basic safety stock. But not every mask labelled "N95-style" meets the standard — here's what to look for when buying NIOSH-approved N95 masks.
What NIOSH Approval Means
NIOSH (the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) tests and certifies respirators. A genuinely NIOSH-approved N95 filters at least 95% of airborne particles when properly fitted, and carries a TC approval number printed on the mask. Masks without that marking haven't passed certification — regardless of what the packaging implies.
Fit Matters as Much as Filtration
An N95 only delivers its rated protection with a proper seal. Look for adjustable nose clips and secure headbands or ear loops, and follow the manufacturer's fitting instructions. For workplaces with formal respiratory programs, fit testing is the standard.
Stocking the Office
N95s are consumables — they have a shelf life and shouldn't be reused indefinitely. Buying by the box keeps the per-mask cost down and ensures supply when you need it. Vonex Shop offers NIOSH-approved N95 respirator masks in boxes of 20 for workplace health and safety programs, with Canadian shipping.
